Your guide to the DCR SIL onboarding journey
Simple, transparent and individualised

Welcome to our SIL onboarding journey
We involve families, guardians and support coordinators as much as they’d like — creating a partnership built on trust, clarity and shared outcomes.
Step 1: Referral and initial contact
We begin with a referral—either from a support coordinator, nominee, or directly from the family. Our intake team reviews the referral within 1 business day, ensuring we have the essential information:
- Participant’s details
- Funding source and plan dates
- Preferred location and support needs
If anything is missing, we’ll reach out promptly to clarify. Our goal is to keep things moving, without unnecessary delays.
Step 2: Needs assessment and compatibility review
Next, we conduct a preliminary assessment to understand the participant’s:
- Daily living needs and NDIS goals
- Behavioural or medical support requirements
- Cultural, linguistic, or lifestyle preferences
We then assess compatibility with our existing SIL homes or explore tailored options. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll help connect you with alternative providers—because the right match matters.
Step 3: Service agreement and consent
When everything is in place, we generate a personalised Service Agreement that outlines:
- The scope of supports (aligned with the NDIS plan)
- Start and end dates (matched to plan periods)
- Funding arrangements
- Consent for plan access and service bookings via the NDIS portal
We communicate consistently and guide support coordinators, families participants and nominees through the signing process, ensuring clarity and reducing delays.
Step 4: Roster of care and Allied Health coordination
We work closely with Allied Health professionals to finalise:
- Roster of Care (RoC) submissions
- Behaviour support plans (if applicable)
- Functional assessments
This ensures the participant’s support needs are accurately reflected in the provision of care and service delivery. Our clinical team supports this process to ensure quality and compliance.
Step 5: Plan activation and service commencement
Once the agreement is signed and funding confirmed:
- We engage our Senior Leadership Team to ensure our whole organisation is ready to welcome the participant.
- Assign a dedicated Manager of Care Management and Practice
- Review how we can best make the house a home for the participant
- Schedule onboarding meetings with the participant and their circle of support
We listen to your needs, understand your goals, and curate a pool of support workers who align with both the required skill set and personal compatibility. From shared interests to lived experience, we focus on building genuine connections that support long-term stability and trust.
This individualised approach puts the participant in the driver’s seat, tailouring support to your preferences, routines and cultural background.
Step 6: Continuous quality, safety and support
Our support doesn’t stand still after onboarding. We maintain the highest living standards through a multi-layered monitoring system that includes:
- Regular house visits by our Care Operations team
- Triple-layered audits covering service quality, care plan delivery, behaviour strategies, medication oversight, and community engagement
- Real-time data capture to track progress, incidents, and service delivery
- Unannounced spot checks to ensure consistent standards
- Multiple feedback channels for participants, families, support coordinators and staff
We actively promote a culture of safety, where feedback is welcomed and acted on. We follow abuse and neglect prevention protocols and encourage support workers to speak up through our clear, confidential pathways for reporting. This ongoing oversight ensures that care remains aligned with each participant’s goals, and that our services consistently exceed NDIS best practice.
