DCR’s Unique Care Model

Consistent, clinically-led and quality assured

Why clinical care matters in disability support

Choosing a Supported Independent Living (SIL) provider is more than a service decision, it’s a trust decision. Families, support coordinators, and guardians want to know that the people supporting their loved ones are skilled, consistent, and clinically guided.

At Direct Care Resources (DCR), our clinical care model is designed to meet your needs. It combines a stable 7/7 or 4/3 support roster with clinical oversight, robust reporting, and a mature Quality Management System aligned to NDIS Practice Standards and ISO 9001. Ensuring safer care, stronger relationships, and better day-to-day outcomes for participants.

What makes our model different

Clinical oversight that goes beyond the basics

At DCR, clinical excellence isn’t an add-on — it’s embedded in everything we do. Our medically trained staff are supported by a multidisciplinary clinical team who provide oversight, coordinate incident responses, and guide complex care planning.

From behaviour support to medication safety, our Clinical Board ensures every home operates with the highest standards of care. We go above and beyond compliance, investing in our people, our systems, and our participants to deliver support that’s not only safe, but deeply personalised and consistently reliable.

The 7/7 or 4/3 consistency model

Many participants thrive when their routines are predictable and their support workers are familiar. That’s why DCR uses a 7 days on / 7 days off or 4 days on / 3 days off staffing model. The same support worker stays with the participant for their preferred duration, building trust, reducing anxiety, and enabling tailored routines.
Families often tell us this approach improves communication and helps participants feel more in control of their day-to-day lives.

Personalised, culturally respectful support

Every support plan at DCR is tailored to the participant’s individual goals, preferences, and cultural background. We take time to understand each person and use a detailed matching process to pair them with support workers who not only meet the required clinical and behavioural skills, but also share personal interests, values and lived experiences. This person-first approach strengthens rapport, dignity and trust in daily life, supporting independence and choice.

Medication management you can trust

Medication safety is a cornerstone of our holistic care model. Medically trained staff administer medications with precision and care, supported by:

  • Double-checking protocols
  • Clear documentation standards
  • Manager approvals for PRN and emergency use
  • Escalation pathways for any incidents

Our clinical team provides oversight across every home, ensuring safe practices and swift responses. Families, support coordinators and guardians are kept informed, and any medication-related events trigger thorough investigation and corrective action. This approach reflects our broader commitment: to deliver care that’s clinically sound, participant-centred, and always above and beyond.

Positive, rights-based behaviour support

We take a holistic, clinically informed approach to behaviour support grounded in dignity, prevention, and progress. Our practices align with the NDIS Capability Framework and national restrictive practice guidelines, and are delivered by medically trained staff with clinical oversight.
We use data to monitor behaviours, track trends, and inform timely, evidence-based decisions. This supports:

  • Prevention and early intervention
  • Least-restrictive, rights-based approaches
  • Transparent reporting to the NDIS Commission
  • Continuous improvement through data-informed insights

This model ensures participants’ rights are protected while promoting wellbeing, safety, and meaningful outcomes.

  • Assurance through clinical leadership
